What Are Affiliate NetworksWeb merchants sell their products through a variety of online mechanisms, and for many, an affiliate program is one of them. However managing an affiliate program requires expertise and resources, and so many choose to outsource their programs to third party affiliate networks. From an affiliate viewpoint i.e. someone looking to promote an affiliate product locating and then signing up for multiple affiliate programs is very time consuming. Affiliate networks act as a middlemen between merchants and affiliates. Merchants use affiliate networks to list their products and attract affiliates who can then sign-up for the ones they choose. Sales tracking statistics, marketing tools, and affiliate payments are handled by the affiliate network. Joining an affiliate network is free for affiliates, but can be expensive for merchants. Because of this the quality of products/merchants tend to be very high on affiliate networks with many household brand names choosing this method. There are networks that focus on particular types of product e.g. Clickbank does only digital downloads/software and there are networks that are country specific.
