Understanding Resale Rights 

Resale or resell rights give you the right to sell products (usually ebooks or software) and keep all the profits. There are many sources of products offering resale rights some for a fee, some as part of a site membership and others for free.

Why Give Resell Rights

Why would anyone want to give you resale rights to a book that they have written? In the answer lies the secret, and the problem, with resell rights.

By offering Resale rights to a product the product creator hopes to increase the number of products that get sold. However, if the reseller keeps all the profits how can the product creator possibly gain?

The answer is that the original product is simply a front end product and is really designed to get customers so that he can sell them some thing else ( a backend product).

You will find the that the ebook contains promotional links, maybe for affiliate products, and certainly to the product creators website.

Paid and Free Resell/Resale Rights

Bearing in mind the original purpose, some products come with free resale rights meaning you buy the product and you have the right to resell it and keep the profit. With others you must buy the resale rights separately.

There is, as far as I know, no hard and fast rule that says the free ones are bad and the paid ones are good as I've seen both from both categories. With free resale rights you stand to loose your reputation if you try to resell a bad product and if you purchase expensive resale rights you can loose both your reputation and cash.

As a beginner I would advise you to stay a first with the free ones until you have gained some experience with the reselling process. You will then be in a better position when it comes to purchasing resale rights.

Making Money with Resale Rights

I freely admit I don't know how profitable this particular area is. However like anything on the Internet it is surrounded with hype and is often the focus of the get rich quick fraternity.

 I would just advise that you approach the area with an healthy degree of scepticism and select your products carefully. Don't just promote them because they are free. They must fit into your site theme and they must be of good value, in that respect it is no different from affiliate product selection.
