The idea that you switch on your turnkey website and-- "hey presto"-- you make money from it, is to put it mildly ---a myth.

What's usually missing from all the glossy text telling you how many turnkey sites you can choose from and how they offer super products, how much you can expect to make etc, etc... Is that

1.  There are thousands of others with the same site selling the same products

2.  To make money you need visitors.

This is in some ways the same as a traditional website and in other ways different. So lets see how a turnkey website compares to a traditional website used to promote affiliate products.

Now anyone trying to sell you on turnkey websites focuses on points 1,2 and 3 and maybe 4. They will totally fail to mention points 5 or 6 or if they do, they phrase it as- just like any business you need to advertise.

The problem with the phrase :

" its just like any other business you need to advertise "

Is that - it isn't true - on the web. Most websites get the majority of their traffic (90-100%) through the search engines without paying anything for adverts!

So we have a real dilemma. The really nice thing about turnkey websites is that they are already built and you don't have to spend hours and hours learning website design and creating hundreds of web pages .

However, that also turns out to be the problem as it takes away control of the content and it is the content you use to get free search engine traffic.

So how do we overcome these problems ? The only solution is to use other forms of website promotion. The most common ones being:

• PPC

• Article Promotion

• Feeder Sites
