Getting the Right Adsense Ads Using Section Targeting
If you find that the Adsense ads appearing on a web page aren't really relevant to your content it may mean that the Google media spider need a little help to determine the content of the page. Google has a mechanism called section targeting to ensure that the ads that appear on your page are relevant. Using section targeting you can either:
What this means is that if you find that a reference, for example, to b-ngee J-mp-ing is being given too much weight by the ad spider then you can flag it so that the ad spider ignores it. This you do by enclosing the text in an HTML comment tag <!-- google_ad_section_start(weight=ignore) --> and ending it in a closing HTML comment tag <!-- google_ad_section_end -->
Example:Note: This is the HTML source You can also do the opposite and emphasis text to the ad spider by enclosing it in the appropriate HTML comment tags. When you emphasis text it should be the majority of the text on the page. What that means is that if the page consists of 10 paragraphs you should be placing the emphasis tags around 8 paragraphs and not around just 2. It is against the Google policies to try and manipulate the ad targeting on a page so that non relevant ads are displayed.
Here is an Example: Note: This is the HTML source Once you have implemented the ad targeting you will need to wait about 2 weeks before you will see any changes.
