Business Website- Case Study 1

Here we are going to look at the design and decision making process involved in making a business website. To illustrate this process I am going to go through a few real life business scenarios.

Scenario 1

Website Requirements

The Company

Small established patent drawing company with many Big name clients currently receiving orders by fax and using email to send completed drawings to customers. All previous advertising was via standard mail to potential clients.

Website Requirements as Given by The Business Owner

To have an Internet presence to refer existing customers to via email and on stationary and business cards. In addition to attract new customers (worldwide) who may be searching such services on the Internet.

There is no requirement for online payment mechanisms as all payments would be by standard invoice and check.

My Questions on Business Owner.

• A business description
• A list of services offered
• A client list
• A selection of  work samples
• current Price list.
• Profiles of business owners with Bio ( partnership business)
• list of possible keywords (see note below)

Note: Because he wanted to be found by the search engines I asked for a list of possible keywords. The question I asked was

"If you were looking for a business like yours what search terms would you enter into the search engine ?"
