Basic Course
A website is basically a collection of web pages. Here you will cover the basics necessary to make web pages and link them
to other web pages to from a basic website.
In addition you will learn about HTML by analysing the pages themselves. In preparation you should set up a separate directory to hold the pages you create and download the free
web page editor Trellian Webpage.
You will be required to register the free trial version it is just a matter of supplying your email
address and the software is completely free. A paid upgrade version is also available.
|
Note: Trellian Wepage is an old page editor and very simple to use hence we are using it and even though Trellian web page is good for simple page edits it produces
HTML that is not compliant with the new standards. You wont notice a problem when viewing the pages with a web
browser but you will if you try to validate the web page with an HTML validator.
However because it is very simple to use we will be using Trellian WebPage for the basic part of the course but we will eventually switch to NVU. You should also note that if
you open a standards compliant web page in Trellian it will modify the HTML so that when you save it it it is no longer standards compliant. There is no need to
worry about standards at this stage they will be covered in later modules. |
