Targeted Website Traffic

All web site traffic isn't created equal. Some traffic is far more valuable than other traffic. The most valuable web site traffic is targeted.

Targeted web site traffic is effectively pre-qualified traffic.

These visitors are interested in something in particular, they aren't just surfing.

The idea is quite simple. If your web site /web page is on "website making for beginners", then you want to attract visitors who are thinking of making their own site.

You don't want visitors who are looking for information or products related to making cakes, dresses etc.

 Getting Targeted Web Site Traffic

There are two main sources of website traffic for most sites

  • Free from Search Engines
  • Paid usually with PPC

Regardless of the source the more closely your page/site matches what the visitor has in mind then the more valuable your site/page is to them, and if you are selling anything; either affiliate products, own products of PPC advertising (Google Adsense), then this will usually result in higher CTR (click through rates)/sales.

Keywords are the Key

The secret to getting targeted traffic either from the natural or paid search results is in the keywords you target.

The more general the keywords the more general and less targeted the traffic it brings. You can see that very quickly and clearly in PPC (see More Traffic=More Sales?) but it is also true for organic search as well.

However the same is also true with natural/organic search. The most important part of creating a web site is doing keyword research and choosing the main keywords for the site.

When you create individual web pages they are also created after doing the appropriate research for the page.
