Your RSS Feed and My Yahoo

In RSS readers I mentioned My Yahoo.

Even though you may not decide to use it for your day to day access to RSS feeds I recommend that you add you own feed to your My Yahoo home Page.

The reason is simply that Yahoo appears to then index your site very quickly if you add your feed to MY Yahoo.

So it is usually possible to get into Yahoo within days just by adding your own feed to your own My yahoo page.

Adding it to My Yahoo also adds it to the Yahoo RSS directory.

The My Yahoo Button

You may have seen this button

Add to My Yahoo!

on Web Pages. This is simple way of letting visitors add your feed to their My Yahoo. In fact this type of shortcut image has become so popular that some pages are simply littered with them for different services like furl, digg, technorati etc.

Yahoo offer an online tool to generate the button all you need to do is copy the code and paste it into your page

Finding Your Feed in the Yahoo directory

You can  search Yahoo's RSS Directory for your site by going to your "My Yahoo!" page, and clicking the add content button. This will take you to a page that allows you to add and search for RSS feeds. See below:

Tracking Your Feed Visitors

Yahoo don't offer any feed tracking and so if you want to know how many people are using your feed and by what methods, then you need to to use a service like feedburner.
